Sting Teams and PC Women's Team Give Back

Thank you PC Women's Team!

The Rhode Island Sting U10 and U12 Gold Team together with the PC Women's hockey team made and donated over 40 fleece blankets.

On Saturday, February 9th 2016, The RI Sting organization attended the PC Women's Hockey game.  After the game, Sting teams gathered at the Conannon Fitness Center to prepare for a great day with the Providence College Women's Hockey Team.  The mission - cut, tie and create blankets to be donated to a women's shelter in providence. The PC Team put together flyers around the PC campus to raise the money for the material and supplies for the event.

Each player was paired with a Sting player and they went to work!  An hour later...40 blankets, and dozens of individually wrapped hot chocolate packets beautifully packed and tied with a festive ribbon.

The girls ended the event with pizza and snacks!  Thank to the PC Women's Team for such a great event.

Cranberry Classic Tournament

The Rhode Island Sting U10 Team opens the Tournament weekend with tough 3-3 tie against Charles River.  Third period aggressive play and an open net in the CR end kept the crowd at the edge of their seats.  Despite the excitement, the game ended in a tie. Rebounding quickly to finish off the first day of play, our U10s were strong and victorious with a 3-1 win over the Minuteman Flames. This was a true bonding tournament.  The team shared off ice activities, meals and alot of laughs!  Saturday opens up with a 10-0 win over Plymouth.  Sunday morning seed #1 Sting faces off against #4 seed Flames.  The team executes crisp passes, heads up play and great goaltending. Semi-Final score Sting defeats the Flames 6-3.  Sunday afternoon Finals set the Sting for a match up against the East Coast Wizards.  The team is ready and set to play!  A 8-3 victory over the Wizards earns this team the title of CHAMPION.

Congratulations U10s.

Two Sting Teams in Finals of Mini 1 on 1

Mini 1 on 1 a Success!

November 22, 2015

TD Garden, Boston, Massachusetts

Mini 1 on 1 - U10 and U12 Event

24 four-player teams of U10 and U12 players gathered today at TD Garden in downtown Boston.  Among them were 2 Rhode Island Sting teams.  The excitement was incredible as the players walked down the runway to step onto the ice of the Boston Bruins.

U10 - The Rhode Island Sting U10s slid past the Brewers to face off against Southern Maine in the quarter finals. A quick 3 minute win over Maine put them in the Semis.  Prior to their semi-final match against St.Albans the team entered into the NESN media room to introduce themselves and name their favorite player on camera.  A true NHL game day experience.  St. Albans posed great competition, but the Sting stayed strong and prevailed.  Next, a trip to the Finals to face off against Assabet Valley.  Goaltending and forwards were working hard.  Time moved quickly and with offensive pressure the Sting team was not easily defeated.  After a hard fought battle the team came up short losing in the finals 1-0.  Congratulations Sting U10 on a great run.

U12 - The Rhode Island Sting U12s began their 3v3 run verse Maine Gladiators 2.  A quick win began the quarter finals vs Stowe.  Vermont held tight but the Sting's strength was too much.  Next up, Maine Gladiators 1 in the Semi Finals.  U12s also took a trip to the NESN media room!  Players spelt their names and announced their favorite players.  Broadcasters want to make sure they get the names correct for the TV broadcast during the Bruins game.  A strong semi final win leads this team to a match up against the Bay State Breakers in the finals.  Star goaltending held us in it.  As the clock runs down, the teams realize the game will end in a tie.  A sudden death shoot out begins.  The Rhode Island Sting U12 team ends as a finalist with a 1-0 loss in the shoot out.  Congratulations U12s on a great event.

We are very proud of our teams.  In the 2015 Mini 1 on 1 the Rhode Island Sting was the only organization to have both U10 and U12 Finalists!

Dates of the broadcasts will be published as soon as they are released.
